2010 In Review

Stealing this from Caryn. (Thanks, Caryn.)

2010 in Review

1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before? I rode a mechanical bull. I got to cross that one off my bucket list.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions? I did. My goal was to loose weight and I did!!! Yay me! Too bad I gained a lot of it back.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Nobody that is super close to me. But a lot of friends from high school and several cousins had babies this year.

4. Did anyone close to you die? Not this year.

5. What countries did you visit? How about I change this to which states I've been to this year: Utah (of course), Idaho, Nevada, Missouri and Colorado (but only if the Denver airport counts).

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010? A job that I like.

7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? There are a lot of events that I will always remember, but I don't think the dates will be forever remembered.

8. What was your biggest achievement(s) of the year? Starting my Pampered Chef business. And while I've slacked on it a lot the past couple months, and while I'm debating if I even want to keep it going, I'm very proud of myself for doing it.

9. What was your biggest failure? Gaining weight back after working so hard to loose it. (I really don't consider this a huge failure - in fact, gaining weight back is what made it so I could purchase a B-cup sized bra - I just can't think of another failure to mention.)

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Normal flu in February-ish and colds. Nothing major.

11. What was the best thing you bought? We bought two pieces of art from the Tom Mangelsen collection. The photograph and stunning and we are very happy to have this investment in our home.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? My husband is amazing. He works full time. He goes to school full time. There were times this past semester when he would spend 100 hours in one week on school/work. One more semester to go!!

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? I had a friend that I've known since high school and into college. One of the best friends I've ever had. A few months ago I offended her - without knowing it and without meaning to. Once I found out that I had hurt her, I apologized. But sadly, she now wants absolutely nothing to do with me. It makes me sick to think of how horribly she is treating me when I never meant harm and apologized right away.

14. Where did most of your money go? We paid off our car this year and are very pleased to have one less bill each month.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Our vacation to Las Vegas brought much anticipation and did not disappoint. I can't wait to go back.

16. What song will always remind you of 2010? I don't really think I have one.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier for sure.
b) thinner or fatter? Thinner. Last year at this time I was the biggest I've ever been.
c) richer or poorer? Richer I think. Ryan got a good job. But we do have tuition due soon and I did quit my job. But overall we are doing well.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Cleaning the house.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Sleeping - I nap way too much.

20. How will you be spending Christmas? We spend Christmas eve at Ryan's dad's house and then spent the night at Ryan's mom's house and spent most of Christmas at his mom's.

21. Did you fall in love in 2010? No new love. I fell in love with Ryan in 2007 and fell in love with Lily in 2009.

22. How many one-night stands? Zero - married and true to my husband.

23. What was your favorite TV program? How I Met Your Mother!!!!

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Hate is pretty strong word. But I am very upset with my former friend that now hates me. But I wouldn't say I hate her - I still care a lot about her and wish good things for her.

25. What was the best book you read? Band of Sisters by Annette Lyon. Wonderful, wonderful story!! I was disappointed with the ending for one of the characters though. But it was amazing nonetheless.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery? The Neon Trees - they performed at Ryan's company party and were amazing!!!

27. What did you want and get? For Christmas, Wii Party

28. What did you want and not get? Books. I always want books. But I have plenty at home to read, so it's perfectly fine that I didn't get more.

29. What was your favorite film of this year? Probably Harry Potter.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 24 this year. A week before my birthday, Ryan and I and our good friends Chris and Rachel (and their 2 year old Phae) went to Park City and stayed the weekend. It was soooo fun!!!!

31. What was one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? A job that I enjoy with an employer that is kind and appreciative of their workers.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010? An improvement. I bought a lot of clothes this year. In fact, I need to go through my clothes and pull out the old ones that I never wear because there isn't a lot of room since the new, cute ones have been added.

33. What kept you sane? I'll always say that I'm crazy. But Ryan is always there to remind me that the crazy ones think they are sane. I love Ryan!!!

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Josh Radnor AKA Ted Mosby from How I Met Your Mother.

35. What political issue stirred you the most? Gay rights.

36. Who did you miss? I miss my baby brother and sister the most. (By baby I mean they are 16 and 13 respectively.)

37. Who was the best new person you met? I had a few friends get married this year and the guys they pick out to married are all top notch. It was a pleasure to meet and hang out with each one of the new couples.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010. The biggest commandments are Love God and Love Everyone Else. That is what is the most important. Nothing is more important than love. NOTHING.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. "Could it be that God loves broken things?...I'm convinced that God loves broken me. Praise His name-my god loves broken things." -Kenneth Cope from the song "Broken Things"
