Art Collecting
Ryan I like to buy art from thrift stores. We look for pieces that are not reproductions and ones that are signed. (Or ones we really like even though they won't ever be worth anything.) We've actually found some really neat pictures. On Saturday we bought a photograph print of a pika with a bundle of weeds and flowers in his mouth. The piece is titled First Date because he kind of looks like he's on his way to pick up a date with a bouquet of flowers. Ryan used the wonderful world of internet to look up who the photographer is and actually e-mailed him asking for more information about the piece. The artist actually responded to our e-mail. There were 900 prints of this particular photograph made, all of them sold and the last one in the series (a bigger one than the one we have) sold for over $6000. I feel like we found a true gem at the thrift store!!!
