Wife Swap

Having the summer off from work has given me a lot of time to watch Wife Swap. I enjoy this show because I like to observe other families and their ways of doing things. Some of the families are really cool and other families are just ridiculous. One family was kind of punk rock like. The kids all dressed in black; the parents were pro body piercings (even on the teenagers). They went to clubs as a family for the music. At first glance I suppose they look a little odd, but they were the coolest family ever. The kids got along with each other; the kids got along with the parents. They were a wonderful family that I would love to get to know. They switched moms with the baptist family where the parents made their daughter do all the housework. The 12 year old boys only chore was to take out the trash while the 14 year old daughter did all the cooking, cleaning, mowing the lawn, etc. All because the housework is for the woman to do. They wouldn't let their daughter wear boots even! They were very restrictive. And when this baptist mom visits the punk rock family, she is so judgmental of them it made me sick. She was one beastly mother judging this wonderful family just because they "look like freaks" as she put it. She is the exact definition to me of what a "fake christian" is. I'll write more on that later. This mom just bugged me soooo much.

Another family was a biker family. They all ride motorcycles and such. The dad has his long biker beard and doesn't look "normal" but after getting to know him, he is a really great person. Absolutely a great person. I love watching these people. Often the families that you think are weird at first look are really great. And I love watching this show and seeing all the wonderful people that are in different environments and lifestyles. Different isn't bad. In fact, I love the variety this world offers.
