The plan is to take Caroline home on Tuesday!! YIPPEE!!!! It's of course not a sure thing - it's conditional on Caroline continuing to do really well at eating, but I doubt she'll stop kicking butt. She is eating so well now! She wakes up on her own, shows the hunger cues and eats more than her minimums. She rocks!
The past couple of days we've been working on all the prep stuff to take Caroline home. The nurses give us tons of information. We got a wonderful schedule for her feedings which includes transitioning from pumping milk and bottle feeding to breastfeeding. She's passed all her extra tests - car seat test, hearing test, etc. She got her HepB shot. She even got her feeding tube taken out. She actually pulled her feeding tube out. But since she isn't expected to need it again, the nurse decided not to put it back in. (And if for some strange reason she were to need it again, they would put the tube back in at that point - but I don't see that happening.) I wish they would let us take her home now, but they like the little premies to be "off the feeding tube" for 48 hours before they discharge.
We are so excited to get her home. Yesterday and today we've been visiting her every 3 hours or so to give her a bottle. Having her home will be so nice - we'll still have to feed her every 3ish hours, but we are so happy there won't be travel time involved in the process.
Well, that's the update.
