I only have 2 more days left as a nanny. I am both happy and sad about this. The kids are soooo cute and I am going to miss them so much. But I am also looking forward to be at the house more to prepare for our little daughter. It will be nice to be able to rest whenever I need to and be home to organize and clean and do all that other stuff around the house that needs to get accomplished before my baby angel comes.
Today, a cold, wet, rainy day, I drove the kids to kindergarten and preschool. Since the family's extra car is currently not in working order until next week, mom left the carseats with me to use in my car. The kids thought it was so neat to get to ride in my car. (One thing I learned though: I will NEVER use a 2 door car with kids and carseats again - especially while pregnant - it is so not fun! I can't wait for this baby to be born so I get the good car back and Ryan gets to 2 door Honda for work.)
Anyway, now that I've bored you with all the background information, here are my two funny car ride stories:
While Eve and Pinch Me and I are waiting for Adam to get out of Kindergarten, Eve was kicking the back of the seat in front of her. I asked her not to do that and the following conversation occurred.
Me: Please keep your feet off of the seat.
Eve: Why?
Me: Because I don't want the car to get dirty.
Eve: If the car is dirty, you take it to Wendy's and the carwash. (Side note: there is a gas station/carwash and a Wendy's in the same parking lot not far from the kids' house.)
Me: But what if the inside of the car is dirty?
Eve: Then you need to get a white car.
(I'm not exactly why a white car would have cleaner interior than a red one, but she sounded very sure of her answer. The logic of a three year old!)
Story #2: Since I only have a couple of days left watching these kids, I have bought and wrapped a small present for each of them. The bag of gifts is just sitting in my car. And since the kids rode in the car today, of course Adam notices the bag. I wasn't quite ready to give them the presents of even tell them I am giving them presents, but when Adam saw the bag he asks, "What are the presents for? Is your husband's birthday coming up?" So cute!!! I should have just said "yes, his birthday is coming up - which is true - but since the presents were for him, I didn't want to lie and say they were for someone else. I just told him to not worry about it. Not sure if that is the best response to give, but it seemed to satisfy Adam. Maybe he'll still be surprised next week when he is given his gift.
Anyway...that is all.
