Life's Update

So a couple of weeks ago, Ryan and I went to Arizona for a family reunion of my aunts and uncles and cousins on my mom's side. I don't want to complain about here since I have family that read this blog. So I shall say no more on that.

My brother and sister came and stayed with us for a week after the reunion while my parents went to California. For some bizarre reason, Chip (16) and Melissa (14) chose my boring 'ole house over a California vacation. (From what I understand, they would have said yes in Disneyland had been included in the trip - but they just went to Disney World like a year ago so my mom said no to that and Chip and Melissa then said no to CA all together. Am I the only one that thinks they are crazy for making that choice??)

Either way, I got to spend a week with my brother and sister which was a lot of fun because I don't get to see them very often. We did a lot of fun things while they were in town: Mini-golf, the rodeo, shopping, swimming, painting ceramics, ice cream, snow cones, bored games. My parents came to pick them up on the weekend and my other sister (Rachel, 19, in Idaho) drove down and spent the weekend with us too. We played more games, went to aquarium and had a nice sit down Father's Day Dinner.

Now life is back to normal. Ryan works during the day and then comes home to me and Lily. We eat dinner, watch some TV, hang out, etc. Ryan has gotten into learning more programming stuff to further his career. From what I can tell, he really enjoys what he does and is excited to learn more (without the going to class and homework, tests and grades part of it).

Lily is growing up. When my mom was in town, she mentioned that Lily is a lot calmer than she's been on other visits. Lily has always been a very nice and gentle dog, but also very hyper. So she would playfully nip at my mom's hands and things like that. But she didn't do that this time around. Good Girl Lily!!!! She has also gotten TONS better with potty training. I know a lot of her problems has been Ryan and I not taking her outside as often as she needs to - our next house WILL have a fenced-in yard. But we're getting better at letting her out every 2 hours. It's easier when the weather in nice like it has been. And my little girl pooped on her paper (where she SHOULD go when she isn't outside) not once, not twice, but THREE times in the past couple days. I am SOOOO proud of her.

On to me....I'm mostly just sitting around growing a baby. I'm at 14 weeks and still super tired all of the time. The morning sickness has gotten better. I was throwing up daily at the beginning of May. And for the entire month of May I felt like throwing up 24/7 even though it only happened a couple more times after that first week. It's definitely better, but I wouldn't say it's gone yet (sigh). Every time I go a few days without feeling sick at all, I think to myself "whew. done with that." But then I always prove myself wrong by getting sick again. But at least June has been A TON nicer to me than May was - May was NOT fun. (Though I imagine that the rest of 2011 won't exactly be a walk in the park - but at least I get a baby out of it all.)

Oh, one more thing I wanted to mention about Lily. Even though this post is getting WAY longer than I meant for it to. On Tuesday Lily went to the groomers for the first time. Ryan's and my niece gave Lily a haircut while we were out of town in AZ. It was quite the choppy haircut and I'll admit I was quite mad at first. (Still annoyed, but the negative feelings are subsiding.) So we took her to the groomers to get it all fixed up. And I suppose it isn't bad to take your dog to get professionally groomed even now and again. (Though I'm glad Lily sheds and doesn't need consistent grooming attention other than brushing - it saves a TON of money). So now her hair pretty short. It's shorter than I'd like it to be (especially considering I didn't want it cut in the first place), but at least it is all evened out and it looks good. She even came home with little pink bows in her hair (eventually I'll gets pictures on facebook).

So I guess that is our update. When I started typing I didn't realize how much I had to say. Hope I didn't bore anyone.
