This book is not going on my list of favorites. It started off really slow and dull. The beginning was also very confusing. The perspective kept changing from one character to another and the whole first few chapters I kept thinking to myself "who are these people I'm reading about." Chapter 2 is in the perspective of a character not mentioned in the summary on the back of the book making me very confused on why I was reading about him.
The book definitely got better as I read on. However, if I wasn't reading this book for Blogging for Books, I probably wouldn't have finished it.
I am glad I did finish it though. The author has a nice writing style and good character development. The perspective on which character the reading is following was confusing at the beginning, but it was a very good writing technique for this book because you could see what was happening to all the different characters in all the different locations without having to read recaps of events like you do in Harry Potter when something happens and Harry isn't there to see it for himself.
If you like suspense - which isn't my favorite to begin with and therefore probably part of why I don't highly favor this read - this book is well-written, the plot well-developed and the character realistic and likable. Also, if you like conspiracies, mysteries and mafias, this book has those elements as well. It kind of reminds me of the mafia episodes of Law and Order. I never liked those episodes, but I know others do. Maybe you are one of those others. In which case, give this book a try.
*I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review*
