Fortune Cookie

I absolutely love fortune cookies. I especially love buffets that have a large bowl of fortune cookies out. I will get a plate and fill it entirely with fortune cookies. It's quite lovely. Last week in Wendover, I was lucky enough to get a couple dozen fortune cookies to read, eat and enjoy. One of the fortunes inside really struck me.

It said: Your friends love both sides of your temperament.

I thought that was really great and profound. True and real friends love you no matter what. They forgive and forget. They think you are wonderful even when you do something stupid. The fortune cookie reminded me a lot of my friend that recently cut me out of her life because I offended her and hurt her feelings without even knowing I had done so. It makes me so sad that my actions - which were never meant to hurt her - did hurt her. I am very sorry that I hurt her feelings because I never wanted to. What makes me sadder is that she won't accept my apology. Sigh. According to this fortune cookie though, she must have never been my friend to start with because a real friend would have looked past it all and loved me - all of me.
