Enter: Terrible Twos

So my dog Lily just turned two and I'm totally feeling like I have a two year old. Today Lily got a hold of a prize from my school prize box. When I caught her with it she snatched it in her mouth, wouldn't let go and starting growling at me. She ONLY growls when playing with toys (in a cute, nice way) or when we try to take her bone away because we don't want her to eat the whole thing and get sick (we've now switched to smaller bones that she can eat in one sitting to avoid the drama). So it was really weird that she became soooo possessive of something that wasn't even hers. (She's really good at knowing what stuffed animals are hers and which ones are mine.) So I try to take the toy, she gets really mad and I have to drag her over to her dad to get the toy back. The whole time carrying her over to Ryan she had that toy firmly in her mouth. Ryan gets the toy back and we give her a time out. And it just made me think about how I can totally see a little two year old sneaking into my school room, grabbing a toy from my treasure box and then getting in trouble for it. And this isn't the first time she's tried to steal things from my prize box. Anyway....I'm sure this story ended up waaaay too long for anyone to really care. But I wanted to blog about it anyway. Lily is such a little person at times. Sometimes it seems like she really does think she is a person. I love my puppy!!!!

*Update - after she is let out of timeout, she goes up to Ryan being all cute, getting on Ryan's lap and stuff. Ryan thought she was being all apologetic. Turns out she was just looking for the toy we took from her and wanted to be on Ryan's lap to get a better look around to see if she could find it. (It's not even a good dog toy. It's made of the type of plastic she likes to eat chunks of.) She still sniffing all around for it.

  1. Lily's so funny! We put our Christmas tree in one of the bedrooms upstairs so our boys couldn't get at it, and Kevin has been sitting outside the room, whining. Every time we let him in, he tries to steal an ornament. Little bums!
