Have you seen the movie Clue? If you haven't, you are truly missing out! Then there are all the episodes of TV shows with murder mysteries. Family Guy did it. Saved by the Bell did it. It's not a unique concept to gather a bunch of people together and people get murdered for entertainment. (I mean that the gathering of people and the show itself is the entertainment - not the murdering.) Even literature - And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie - have used this basic plot line.
Many of these plots start with people being invited by a stranger to a dinner party of some sort. My first question is: Why on earth do they show up? If YOU got an invitation in the mail to a dinner party and you had no clue who was inviting you, would you go? I certainly would think it to be junk mail and throw it away.
I think it would be funny to invite a bunch of random strangers to dinner and see who shows up. Would anyone show up? And if people do show up, wouldn't it be fun to have a mystery of sorts? (No murder of course.) That is another of my mischief dreams. To create my own (non-murderous) CLUE movie - just for the amusement.
