On my way home from work today I stopped by the grocery store to buy candy bars. Snickers, M&Ms and Twix were on sale for 50 cents each and I needed to stock up. (I'm trying to gain a little baby weight and so a candy bar a day is one of my helps at this.)
As I'm waiting in the checkout line with my 10 candy bars, this sweet old man behind me says to me "Looks like someone has a sweet tooth." Now I'm not normally the type of person to want to talk to strangers. When I go to the store, I want to find my stuff, maybe browse a little, check out and go home. I don't want to talk to people (unless I were to run into someone I actually know or something.) But this old man was so nice and we had quite the pleasant conversation. He asked where I'm from, how long I've been in Provo, what brought me out here, what did I major in, where is my husband from, do I currently have a teaching job, is it still too early to know if the baby is a boy or a girl, etc. As I'm typing this out I'm realizing how much information we shared just while waiting in line. And there was only one person in front of me and she only had like 6 items, so it's not like we had a long time to chat. But all in all, it was very nice and I left the store not feeling bothered at all by the conversation with a random stranger. In fact, I quite enjoyed it.
