Okay, so I hate the word diet. Especially since I am a pretty small girl and people tend to give me weird looks if I say I am dieting. The truth is I just want to be healthy. I've mentioned some of this before in previous posts, but summer/fall 2009 I gained 20 pounds. And even though I was still considered a thin person, it usually isn't such a healthy thing to gain 20 in 6 months time. To make the long tale shorter, I am still not where I would like to be with my weight. I have only lost a cumulative 5 pounds of the 20 pound weight gain and I'd like to loose a little more. (I'm okay with not loosing all of it because I have hips now - finally!) Okay, enough with the background.
I have decided that I hate to sweat. I have to shower when I get up in the morning and I can't get myself to exercise first thing. Therefore exercise = a second shower for the day which just makes the whole process take 15-20 minutes longer.
My latest solution: an exercise ball. I spent $16 at Walmart, bought an exercise ball and I pretty much only sit on that. It burns more calories than just sitting on the couch and if I was going to be sitting anyway, might as well burn a few extra calories doing it. I sit on it when I'm at the computer. I sit on it while I watch TV. I even sit on it when I'm eating (depending on what I'm eating.) The only time I'm not on that ball is when I'm reading. Couple that with watching what I am eating and walking 10,000 steps a day and I'm hoping it'll get me somewhere. I can already tell that my muscles are working harder, so that's good. I'll keep you posted on my $16 Diet.
