I LOVE books. I don't read quite as often as my love for books would like, but I definitely love books! My friend Caryn told me about Blogging for Books - you can read her post about it here. Basically they send you a book that you pick from a bunch of choices - for free - you read it, post about it on your blog and they will send you another one. I just finished my first book from them, so here is my review of it.
Lady in Waiting by Susan Meissner is a wonderful story of two women named Jane. Modern day Jane is a lady waiting for her husband to decide if their marriage is going to continue. Sixteenth century Jane is a young lady waiting to see what decisions will be made for her regarding marriage and social status. These two Janes are connected through a ring that once belonged to young Jane and mysteriously found its way to the modern-day Jane. Both girls struggle to find power in their own lives. It is a wonderful and amazing story. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters thoughts and actions are genuine, the emotions are real, the story is compelling. I am not usually a fan of historical fiction, but this one, mixed with a modern tale, was delightful to read. Each time I switched to reading about the other Jane, I was excited to continue that story but also extremely eager to get back to the other story. I applaud Susan Meissner on a book well written and a story full and complete.
